Dornenreich is a Melodic Black Metal band from Tyrol, Austria. The name means realm of thorns (noun) or full of thorns (adjective) in German. Founded in 1996, the band has progressed in style from black metal on their first album, Nicht um zu sterben, to what the band describes as “a vision beyond (black) metal, neofolk and ambient” on their latest works.

In a move which seeks to showcase their musical specialties, record labels such as Prophecy Productions will occasionally sell themselves to likely consumers by putting out a carefully selected compilation CD with the best of their bands’ repertoire. However, it’s rarely seen that these bands will be linked together by something other than genre or even icon tributes; which is where ‘Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings‘ draws its own niche, to set itself apart from other label packages. Bringing musicians together under the aesthetic theme that the two-disc release’s title describes; it may be that this is one relatively small step for Prophecy and another step forward for creative integrity in the ocean of the current music industry.

Ulver (Norwegian for “wolves”) is a multi-disciplinary musical trio from Oslo, Norway. The band was formed by Kristoffer “Garm” Rygg in 1993, and their current members are Rygg (vocal, programming), Jørn H. Sværen (misc.) and Tore Ylwizaker (programming, piano). Since their first Folk Metal / Black Metal release in 1993, Ulver’s style has ever been changing by combining elements of Experimental, Electronic and Ambient music, Avant-Garde, Rock, Trip-Hop, and their own genre-defying innovations.

Empyrium started as a German symphonic folk doom metal band founded in 1994 by Markus Stock (mostly using the pseudonym Ulf Theodor Schwadorf) and Andreas Bach, but later Ulf T. Schwadorf separated from Andreas Bach and took Thomas Helm as his partner. Their first two albums, A Wintersunset and Songs of Moors and Misty Fields, can be considered doom metal with folk and symphonic influences. They combine harsh and operatic male vocals with deep slow guitar parts and atmospheric keys. Their music is heavy, dark and romantic.

Tenhi is a Finnish band formed in 1996, playing melancholic, neofolk music. The word tenhi is an old Finnish word meaning a village elder, wise old man or seer.
The music of Tenhi is minimalistic and dark. Usually, the rhythm instrument lines follow the customs of modern rock music. The melodical instruments and vocals are however very heavily folk-influenced. The basic instrumentarium of the band consists of acoustic guitar, bass and drums. Frequent additional instruments include piano, violin, viola and flute and less frequent didgeridoo, mouth harp, harmonium, cello, udu and synthesizer.

The Moon and the Nightspirit was formed in 2003 by Agnes and Mihaly. It is a mystical journey into the amaranthine realm of dreams and beauty, long-forgotten by modern man. A journey inspired by pagan fables, ancient Hungarian folk music and nature itself.

The band recorded a promotional EP in 2004, which earned them a deal with for the release of their first album, "Of Dreams Forgotten and Fables Untold", recorded and released on the following year. This album was very well received and made a name for The Moon and the Nightspirit in the musical scene. They played several festivals/concerts, both in Hungary and abroad, and even at a live TV show on one of Hungarian National television's programmes dedicated to folk/world music.

Recordings for their second album, "Regõ Rejtem", began around mid 2006, again at the band's own studio, Elysion. "Regõ rejtem" is a line from ancient Hungarian minstrel songs, which means "I conjure with magic", or, in words even closer to Shamanism, "révüléssel révülök" ("I am ecstatic in a trance"), a vision that suits perfectly the mood on the duo's songs. This time they have traveled further into times bygone, rekindling the flames of the Taltos (Hungarian shaman) and reawakening the spirits of the Elders. The music has acquired a more varied and colorful tone through the use of varied ethnic instrumentation (such as kaval, tapan, jew's harp or zither), and has also become significantly more energetic and vibrant, without sacrificing the unique ambiance that the band had found on their debut album.

Bueno subo este disco pq lo habeis pedido ya de paso me lo he bajado y viene bien para estos dias de estudio y además para que Domine pueda oir Neo Folk xD.

October Falls was formed in 2001 and recorded the first demos later at the same year, although that demo was sent only to a few individuals. After the recordings and a small break, new music was composed and the whole material slowly turned from melodic Dark Metal to all acoustic, that later was released as a part of October Falls “Tuoni”. Currently October Falls have release their debut full-length "Marras".
